New Zealand Firefighters Credit Union has a Home Loans partnership arrangement through TSB – Home Loans (New Zealand owned bank) for Firefighters, the Emergency Services Community and their families.

All firefighters, emergency services personnel and their families qualify for the home loan interest rate discounts. All you need to do is simply be (or become) a member of the New Zealand Firefighters Credit Union, and have the home loan application processed through the Credit Union.

Home Loan applications are available to:

  • Refinance/switch your home loan from your current bank
  • Get into your first home
  • Buy your next home
  • Build a home
  • Purchase an investment property

Take out a new home loan greater than $100,000 and you will:

  • Receive 0.50% p.a. off the Floating interest rate
  • Receive up to 0.10% p.a. off the Special fixed interest rates(some exceptions may apply)
  • Receive a Cash Contribution up to $2,000 towards professional services(0.50% of new lending capped at $2,000)
  • Have no application fee

For example, if a member had a $400,000 home loan on a floating interest rate, they could save up to $2,000 p.a. in interest payments.

FIRST HOME BUYERS

In most cases, your deposit will need to be 20% of the value of the property you are looking to purchase.

In some cases, you may qualify for one or all three of the government home ownership products designed to assist people into their first home with a 10% deposit. Your deposit can come from your KiwiSaver through a KiwiSaver first-home withdrawal, your own savings or gift from family.

The New Zealand Firefighters Credit Union and TSB will require you to provide the following information to assess your Home Loan application:

  • Evidence of your income for your wages or salary (three months’ bank statements and your two most recent pay slips)
  • Three months’ of current statements for any credit cards, hire purchases or personal loan facilities
  • Photo Identification (Driver’s Licence or Passport). Note: these may need to be certified

Note: if you are self-employed, you will need to provide updated financial statements for the last two years.

Normal lending criteria, fees and Terms and Conditions apply. TSB Terms and Conditions apply.  Additional margins may apply for bridging loans and buyers with less than 20% deposit. TSB’s standard criteria, terms and conditions, and fees apply.  All interest rates and offers can be changed or withdrawn at any time without notice. All legal costs and any registered valuation report will be your responsibility. Minimum Home Loan amount is $100,000.
